A Day In The Life …
Do you think owning your own business is great? Do you think a career in real estate would be ideal because the hours are flexible? Don’t believe the hype! Here is how a typical day goes for me…
8:00 – Wake up, shower, get ready for the day
8:30-9:45 – Check emails, return voicemails, put out any fires that have popped up overnight, get ready for my listing appointments (pull/print comps, put together agreements, put together listing presentation folder, put sign/lockbox in the car, print directions if not on GPS)
9:45-10:30 – Drive from North Raleigh out to first appointment in Holly Springs
10:30-11:45 – Listing appointment – go over paperwork, discuss price, package, staging, take photos (after moving their stuff out of the way), take room dimensions, measure square footage
noon – Drive from Holly Springs to Fuquay-Varina, pick up sign and lockbox from a closed listing
12:15-1:00 – Drive from Fuquay-Varina to Wake Forest, pick up specially designed sign required by one community’s HOA (cost: $150)
1:00 – Grab sign, run to new listing and put it out
1:15 – Drive from Wake Forest/Rolesville area towards downtown Raleigh, oops…gotta stop and get gas!
1:45 – Pick up check from attorney’s office for yesterday’s closing, it’s $500 short, call Courtney to figure it out
2:00-2:15 – Snag a really quick lunch at Quizno’s, get mustard on my shirt
2:15-3:00 – Drive from midtown Raleigh to Chapel Hill for second appointment of the day
3:00-4:45 – Second listing appointment – go over paperwork, discuss price, package, staging, take photos (after moving their stuff out of the way), take room dimensions, measure square footage, talk some more
5:00-6:15 – Fight rush-hour traffic on I-40 East to get back home to North Raleigh
6:15 – Check emails, return voicemails, put out any fires that have popped up while I was gone, find a few FSBO’s, send out some letters to them
7:15 – Courtney says time for dinner, we eat, chill out for a little bit, my phone gets turned off
9:30 – One last check of emails before bedtime, then off to clean the kitchen
11:00 – Time for bed!
Whew…I’m exhausted just typing this!
